Sophie Scholarship Recipient Spotlight: Quincy Robinson Is Building a Future of Economic Empowerment

At Sophie’s Mart, the Sophie Scholarship is about more than helping students pay for college. It’s about investing in young people who want to use their education to strengthen the communities around them.

One of our recent scholarship recipients, Quincy Robinson, embodies that mission.

Quincy is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree at Hampton University, studying Business Administration, Management and Operations, with additional studies in accounting. His ambitions extend beyond earning a degree: he hopes to build a career at the intersection of business, marketing, entertainment, and economic empowerment.

Turning Creativity Into Economic Power

Quincy’s long-term vision is to build a creative conglomerate that helps Black artists achieve financial independence and build generational wealth.

His passion for financial literacy and entrepreneurship is already reflected in his community involvement. Before receiving the scholarship, Quincy had completed more than 200 hours of community service, including leading a book drive that exceeded its original goal by 300% and supporting campaigns focused on positive social change.

For Quincy, education is another tool for creating opportunity.

Through business knowledge, financial literacy, and strategic mentorship, he hopes to help artists turn their creative influence into sustainable businesses and long-term economic power.

What the Sophie Scholarship Means to Quincy

After being selected as a recipient, Quincy sent Sophie’s Mart a heartfelt thank-you letter explaining what the scholarship meant to him.

He shared that the award helps ease the financial demands of college, allowing him to devote more attention to his studies, community involvement, and future career.

But one part especially captured what we hope the Sophie Scholarship represents:

“I’m honored to carry on Sophie Youmans’ legacy through this scholarship.”

Quincy also expressed his desire to someday extend that same support to others, writing that he hopes to give back just as others have invested in him.

And that is the Village in action.

Investing in the Next Generation

The impact of a scholarship doesn’t end when an award is given.

It continues through what that student learns, what they build, who they serve, and eventually, who they help next.

Students like Quincy remind us why the Sophie Scholarship exists: to help promising students continue their education while encouraging a cycle of opportunity, service, leadership, and community impact.

Congratulations, Quincy. We’re proud to have you as part of the growing Sophie Scholarship legacy.

One student supported. One dream strengthened. One Village investing in the next generation.
